AP News report revealed that the indigenes of the niger-delta Apio area have suffered greatly from the pollution coming from the unmanaged disaster site as many are rushed to the hospital for skin irritation treatment and as dead fishes spring up to surface resulting from a burning heat of about 1,340 degrees Fahrenheit(730c) which capable of softening steel.
Chevron however is not sure how long it would take to put out the burning rig, they claim they have finished the designing of a 9,000ft relief well that could enable them put out the fire but the well cannot be built in less than 30days, and chevron has not said how long the fire will continue to last as people continue to suffer in Apio.
